The US Congress is unlikely to pass a package of additional funding for Ukraine before Christmas. This was stated by the leader of the US Republican Party, Mitch McConnell, Reuters reports.
According to him, it is "practically impossible" to approve a bill containing aid to Ukraine by the end of the year, even if an agreement on the functioning of the US-Mexico border is concluded in the near future. McConnell explains this by the long process of approving the bill, which needs to be finalized and passed through the US Senate and House of Representatives.
He added that there will be no deal on the border issue until US President Joe Biden and the Republicans reach an agreement.
It should be noted that the US House of Representatives and Senate will go on Christmas vacation on Thursday, December 14. Congress will resume its work in the second week of January.
