College students who beat the first-year students were expelled and evicted in Lviv region

In the Lviv region, senior students of a college in the village of Chervone were punished for organizing a "dedication" for the first-year students and severely beating them.

The Department of Education and Science of the Lviv RMA responded to the incident and stated that it "categorically condemns any manifestations of harassment" of participants in the educational process.

The agency said that the perpetrators were expelled from the Chervonne Higher Vocational School and evicted from the dormitory.

"The shameful incident that occurred recently in one of the institutions is absolutely unacceptable from a moral, ethical, or legal point of view. The perpetrators of the unacceptable actions will be brought to justice after the police investigation, which was requested by the management of the institution. In addition, for disrespecting the dignity of other participants in the educational process, the offenders were expelled from the institution and evicted from the dormitory," the department said in a Facebook post.

The Department of Education reminded that parents are required by law to teach their children to respect the dignity, rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of a person, and promised to take measures to prevent bullying.

"The video, which was distributed on the Internet, shows how senior students in the dormitory bully first-year students, showing disregard for generally accepted norms and rules of behavior, disrespect for the dignity of colleagues. In turn, the Department of Education and Science of Lviv RMA additionally introduces a number of measures to prevent and countering bullying in educational institutions," the department added.
