The Security Service of Ukraine has responded to the words of National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov about Russian spies in the SBU and explained that his statements were misinterpreted, and that the special services regularly neutralize any attempts by the enemy to use enemy agents. This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda.
"Counteracting attempts by enemy intelligence services to establish their agent networks and destabilize the situation in Ukraine is one of the key activities of the SBU. We record such manifestations and systematically and effectively neutralize the activities of those who intend to harm state security," the SBU said.
The department emphasized: "Some of the accents voiced in the media today about the activation of a network of spies within the Ukrainian special service are not true and are a manifestation of an incorrect interpretation of the words of the NSDC Chairman."
The department reminded that during 2022-2023, the Security Service "exposed more than 2,000 traitors and identified more than 300 agents of foreign special services."
"Among those exposed are MPs Viktor Medvedchuk, Andriy Derkach, Oleksandr Ponomarev, Oleksandr Dubinsky, former head of the SBU Main Directorate in Crimea Oleh Kulinich and others," the SBU said.
As we reported earlier, Russia has activated its network of spies in Ukraine, particularly in the Security Service, according to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov.
