2046 settlements were left without electricity - Ukrenergo

In Ukraine, 2046 settlements are without power due to bad weather. The most difficult situation is in Poltava, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kyiv, and Kirovohrad regions, Ukrenergo reports.

"Ukrenergo has powered 3 high-voltage 330 kV overhead lines in the southern region that were damaged by the weather. 4 high-voltage 330 kV overhead lines remain disconnected due to weather conditions. Squally winds and sleet make it difficult to carry out emergency repairs. 32 110-35 kV overhead lines have been disconnected in the power company's networks," the statement said.

Due to hostilities and other reasons, 530 settlements remain without electricity. The shelling has caused new damage to the power company networks in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Emergency repair works are carried out depending on the security situation and with the permission of the military.

The enemy attacked a thermal power plant in the eastern region at night. The power plant is operating, but the nearby town is without power.

The accident rate at the power plant remains high. Overnight, a unit at a thermal power plant in another region went down for emergency repairs.

Consumption in the energy system has been reduced due to significant damage to the networks of Ukrenergo and regional power companies.

"During the day, after the power supply is restored in the settlements affected by the weather, consumption is expected to grow rapidly. This may lead to a sharp increase in the load on the power system. We ask consumers to be especially attentive to economical electricity consumption during bad weather," the statement said.

There are no exports today. Electricity is imported in the evening from Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova. The total volume is 716 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 330 MW in some hours. Technically, the maximum capacity is 1200 MW.
