Some countries have "cooled off" toward Kyiv because of Israel's war with Hamas, – Podolyak

Kyiv's relations with many non-aligned non-Western countries have "cooled off" since the start of Israel's war with Hamas. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian.

"This has made it difficult to create a broader coalition to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia," said Podolyak.

Amid the huge number of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip, countries of the global South have accused the West of "hypocrisy" for its support of Israel's actions.

At the same time, Ukraine is trying to organize a peace summit with the countries of the global South to support Volodymyr Zelensky's peace formula. It was planned to hold such a meeting by the end of 2023, but so far no specific date has been decided.

The adviser also said that a conflict between Armed Forces Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi and Zelensky is impossible because the president is superior to the chief in position.

"Zelensky is his direct superior, there can be no conflict by definition," Podolyak said in the same interview with The Guardian.
