Germany is facing a problem due to a hole in the budget: Aid to Ukraine worth 8 billion euros has been delayed

Germany has suspended, among other things, the doubled aid to Ukraine for 2024 in the amount of 8 billion euros due to a huge budget hole, Reuters reports.

The Constitutional Court has banned the German government from transferring 60 billion euros of unused funds during the pandemic to environmental initiatives and support for industry.

Budget negotiations have been postponed until at least next Thursday.

"Some of the spending planned for next year will now have to be cut, which is likely to be difficult for the ruling parties to agree on," said Commerzbank chief economist Jörg Kraemer.

The Bundestag's budget committee is confident that the budget will be adopted as planned on December 1.
