EU provides additional €110 million in humanitarian aid for war-affected Ukrainians

The European Union announced today that it has decided to provide additional humanitarian aid of 110 million euros for Ukrainian citizens affected by the war and are in the territory of Ukraine and neighboring Moldova. This information was published on the website of the European Commission.

"As Russia's war against Ukraine continues, the humanitarian situation in the country remains difficult. As winter approaches, additional challenges arise for already vulnerable communities affected by the war. The European Commission is allocating 110 million euros of humanitarian aid, of which 100 million will be allocated to operations in Ukraine and another 10 million to support Ukrainian refugees and local communities in Moldova," the statement said.

The European Commission said in a statement that the humanitarian situation in Ukraine remains difficult due to the duration of Russia's war against Ukraine. The arrival of winter brings additional challenges for already vulnerable communities affected by the war.

The total amount of humanitarian aid from the EU to Ukraine in response to Russian aggression now stands at €843 million, of which 785 million is earmarked for the population of Ukraine and 58 million for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova.

The new humanitarian aid package will be aimed at providing Ukrainian citizens with essential social services such as cash assistance, food, water, medical care, psychological support and protection.

"Taking into account last year's targeted attacks by Russia against Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the EU is also prioritizing emergency energy assistance, including the deployment of 84 more generators from its strategic reserves under rescEU (EU Civil Protection Program - ed.). In total, more than 5,000 power generators have been sent to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. In addition, the EU is coordinating grants from the private sector to deliver critical energy equipment to Ukraine," the statement said.
