The US House of Representatives has voted in favor of a bill on a package of aid to Israel alone, despite President Joe Biden's demands to combine aid to Israel and Ukraine. This was reported by CNN.
The US House of Representatives passed a bill to fund $14.5 billion in aid to Israel by reducing funding for the Federal Tax Service by the same amount. 214 Republicans and 12 Democrats voted for it.
The White House and the Democratic Party, which controls the Senate, insist that the financial aid package should combine aid to Israel and Ukraine. Biden has also said that if a separate aid package for Israel passes through both houses of Congress, he will veto such a bill.
Senate Speaker Chuck Schumer does not intend to bring the bill to a vote, so CNN writes that a Republican vote could lead to a "legislative shutdown" between the houses of Congress.
