The outbreak of hepatitis A in Vinnytsia region has been declared an emergency at the regional level, and anti-epidemic measures are being intensified. This was reported by the Ministry of Health.


According to the Ministry of Health, the outbreak of hepatitis A continues to unfold, and experts are studying its source, which may be related to food or drinking water. Currently, 144 patients are being treated in hospitals in the region, and medical work is ongoing to treat the victims.


Due to the emergency situation, various measures are being taken in the region, including restrictions on the sale of home-made goods at markets, additional inspections at enterprises dealing with public services and food. There is also increased control over the cleaning and disinfection of public transport and measures to restrict the sale of home-made products.


Vinnytsia has introduced distance education, including after-school, sports and art clubs. This decision was made at the level of the regional commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies.


Epidemiologists and rapid response teams are examining workers in epidemically dangerous areas, such as markets, consumer goods companies, centralized water supply facilities, and businesses that sell drinking water.


Based on the results of epidemiological investigations, possible factors indicating the source of the infection have been identified and laboratory control is underway.


Vaccination of healthcare workers and public health professionals involved in the fight against hepatitis A is also underway. Mobile teams are vaccinating close contacts of patients and children in closed teams. For this purpose, hepatitis A vaccines have been delivered to the region.
