US called Putin's comments on Ukraine's involvement in Dagestan absurd

The US State Department has called Vladimir Putin's statement that he accused Ukraine and Western countries of the Jewish pogrom in Dagestan on October 29 "absurd." This was announced at a briefing by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

According to him, the United States condemns "violent anti-Semitic events" that threatened Jews.

"I saw these videos, just like all of you. It looked like a pogrom to me. We call on the Russian authorities to publicly condemn these violent protests, bring them to justice, and ensure the safety of Israelis and Jews in Russia," Miller said.

He noted that Putin's comments about "Ukraine's involvement" in the pogrom are "obviously absurd."

"I don't have any assessment to offer. I have seen reports that they may arrest people. I do not know the full extent of the actions they will take. I will say that we believe that they should bring everyone to justice," the diplomat summarized.
