New Speaker of the House of Representatives demands to divide aid to Israel and Ukraine

The new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, has demanded that aid to Israel and Ukraine be divided after US President Joe Biden submitted a bill to the US Congress requesting $106 billion, including $61 billion for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel, Reuters reports.

"Our consensus among House Republicans is that we must separate these issues," the speaker said.

"Israel is a separate issue," Johnson added.

According to the speaker, the House Republicans will offer Israel $14.5 billion, which is slightly more than the White House has requested.

He added that the United States is not just "printing money to send it abroad," and all of this spending is detached from domestic spending.

The elected Speaker also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin should not be allowed to win in Ukraine. But at the same time, he should be made to account for every dollar spent on Kyiv. A Russian victory in Ukraine could push China to invade Taiwan, Johnson added.
