At the European Union summit to be held on October 26-27, the leaders of the member states plan to discuss the acceleration of military aid to Ukraine and the possibility of using Russia's frozen assets. This is reported in an invitation letter sent by the President of the European Council Charles Michel to the heads of state and government of the EU countries.
"Our meeting takes place at a time of great global instability and insecurity, which has recently been exacerbated by events in the Middle East. These events require our immediate attention without distracting us from our continued support for Ukraine," the letter reads.
Charles Michel emphasized that support for Ukraine will be provided as long as necessary and called for concrete measures to accelerate the provision of assistance and develop plans for the use of frozen Russian assets, as well as intensify diplomatic efforts to ensure global support for an "inclusive, just and sustainable world".
The President of the European Council also noted that the upcoming meeting will address the revision of the multiannual financial framework and the definition of financial priorities, taking into account the principle that nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.
In addition, the agenda of the upcoming summit also includes issues of economic competitiveness, migration management, the situation in the Sahel, relations between Pristina and Belgrade, and the situation in the South Caucasus.
