At a press conference following his visit to China, Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to the transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, calling it a "mistake" by the United States, and said that Russia would be able to repel them, RosMedia reports.

"We will certainly be able to repel these attacks (ATACMS missiles). War is war. What is most important is that it cannot change the situation on the contact line at all," Putin said.

He also believes that the United States' transfer of missiles to Ukraine is a "mistake" because it seems to prolong "Ukraine's agony."

During the press conference, Putin also said that Ukraine is "thinking about the negotiation process."

"This is a transformation in the right direction, and I will praise it, but it is not enough. If Ukraine wants a negotiation process, theatrical gestures are not needed, the decree prohibiting negotiations should be canceled," the Russian president said.

It is worth noting that there have been no recent signals of readiness for negotiations from Ukraine.
