Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili expressed her reaction to the decision of the Constitutional Court of Georgia. This was reported by Ekho Kavkaza.
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili made an extraordinary statement after the leader of the ruling party, Irakli Kobakhidze, about resignation. He said this after the decision of the Constitutional Court.
"Today, the European future and democracy have been killed with one stone. A country where there is no balance between the branches cannot be considered a democratic country. This is an attempt by the "Dream" party. Their time has passed. Let them think for themselves which Salome Zurabishvili was better for them. I am not interested in this. I am interested in where I am more useful to this country - as a free politician or as a president who will extend his mandate. The near future will show this," the Georgian leader said.
Zurabishvili reminded voters of Georgia's European future, which she is committed to.
"The whole society is united on this European path, together we will achieve this result. The first result will be at the end of this year, no matter who interferes with this from within. And at the end of next year, we will have the next stage. We have a year and a half ahead of us, and we will achieve all this. Let no one lose hope. We will also achieve free elections. We can do everything together," Zurabishvili said.
The President announced that she intends to be in the parliament when the ruling party holds a vote on her "impeachment".
"I will go to the parliament. And I will be there next to these men, I will not need anyone to support me... I will come out if they give me the word, if not, I will still come out and say everything that needs to be said," Zurabishvili said.
The President thanked everyone who supports her and called on them to "fight together to the end."
Earlier we reported that the Constitutional Court of Georgia issued a ruling on the impeachment motion against President Salome Zurabishvili, recognizing that she had traveled to Europe in violation of the country's Constitution. This was reported by the publication "Georgia Online".
