Ukrainians will be able to enter Russia through only one airport from October 16: Latvia closes checkpoints

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has announced that from October 16, Ukrainian citizens will be able to enter Russia through only one airport - Sheremetyevo in Moscow. This is due to the closure of two land border crossing points, "Vientuli" and "Pededze", in Latvia, through which Ukrainians could previously enter Russia.

"According to the Latvian side, this step was taken in response to the restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian citizens entering its territory from third countries. The Latvian checkpoints "Vientuli" and "Pededze" do not have the proper infrastructure to cope with the projected increase in passenger traffic," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

Reportedly, Ukrainians will be able to leave Russia and enter Latvia through the "Ubylinka-Grebneve" and "Burochki Terekhova" checkpoints.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for refraining from any trips to Russia, and recommends that those who are in the country immediately leave its territory.
