Romania has launched a new procedure for importing Ukrainian agricultural products agreed with Kyiv, Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Florin Barbu said at a briefing following a government meeting on Thursday.
"Today, the government adopted an emergency decree that protects Romanian farmers from grain imports from Ukraine. Based on a mechanism agreed with Ukraine, we are establishing a procedure according to which we allow the import of wheat, corn, sunflower and soybeans only on the basis of a marketing agreement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development," the minister said.
Imports will be possible only for Romanian farmers and processors who document that they need the grain to replenish their stocks. The products must meet ANSVSA quality standards.
