High Anti-Corruption Court closes "Rotterdam+" case

The High Anti-Corruption Court has closed the case on the "Rotterdam+" formula, which under former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko linked the cost of electricity to the price of coal in the Netherlands, the SAP reports.

The case was closed due to the expiration of the pre-trial investigation. The decision was made by a panel of HACC judges during a preparatory hearing in the "Rotterdam+" case.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office intends to appeal the HACC decision.

According to the investigation, electricity consumers overpaid the state almost UAH 20 billion.

"According to the investigation, the introduced formula resulted in UAH 19.357 billion of losses to electricity consumers in 2016-2017. The prosecutor also filed a civil claim for compensation for damages caused by the criminal offense to the state in the amount of UAH 19.357 billion," the SAP said in a statement.

It is noted that six people are suspects in the case.
