German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock says the European Union plans to expand from Lisbon to Luhansk, Handelsblatt reports.

She confirmed the EU's promise of Ukraine's future accession to the bloc, expressing confidence in the country's integration into the "community of freedom." 

"The future of Ukraine is in the European Union, in our community of freedom, and it will soon expand from Lisbon to Luhansk. With every village, with every meter that Ukraine liberates, with every meter where it saves its people, it also expands its path to the EU," the Foreign Minister said.

As a reminder, Ukraine has already been granted candidate status for EU membership and now the country has to fulfill the necessary conditions for full membership in the bloc.
