Rally in Tbilisi demanding the arrest of the former Prosecutor General

In Tbilisi, civil activists and opposition representatives staged a rally in front of the Georgian parliament building, calling for the arrest of former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze. This challenge is addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, who will address the parliament today during the "Ministerial Hour".

"The protests will continue until we stop the government to save our country from collapse. What we are witnessing today with regard to Partskhaladze is a dress rehearsal. This is how the government is covering for Bidzina Ivanishvili and showing how they will protect his money," said Sopho Japaridze, a representative of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and member of the "National Movement".

Another participant of the action, Nika Parulava, speaking to journalists, said:

"This building has become a refuge for agents of Russian influence in the government. We knew about 76 people, the former Prosecutor General was added to them, and I think that Gomelauri, the whole government team, all those who are in the "Georgian Dream" today, the main decision-makers, are Russian agents. The rights of FSB officers in this country are more protected than the rights of ordinary Georgian citizens."

The protesters unfolded a poster depicting acting National Bank President Natia Turnava, former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, judges Irakli Shengelia and Levan Murusidze, and former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze, while the activists chanted: "Russian agents, please leave, otherwise you will be subject to international sanctions."
