Josep Borrell calls impeachment of Georgian president a "risk"

During his official visit to Tbilisi, Josep Borrell, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, called the impeachment discussions of Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili a "risk" that could further exacerbate the political situation and increase polarization in the country.

According to the Georgian edition of APA, the European Union's representative for foreign and security policy, Josep Borrell, held a joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi.

Borrell emphasized that all state institutions should cooperate and support Georgia's efforts on the European path, noting that the country has the potential to move in this direction.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the resumption of air travel between Georgia and Russia.

Speaking about Georgia's implementation of the recommendations for becoming an EU candidate, the European politician noted that the country has fulfilled three recommendations and has nine more to fulfill.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili believes that "the main part of the recommendations has been fulfilled to a large extent."
