Village opposite Izmail in Romania may face evacuation due to Russian drone attacks

Tudor Cernega, the mayor of Chatalkia commune in Romania, discussed with the head of the country's Defense Ministry the possibility of evacuating the residents of Plauru village. The reason for this is the Russian drone attacks in the south of Odesa region. This was reported by Digi24.

The village of Plauru is located no more than 300 meters from the port of Izmail. Due to the recent Russian attacks on the south of Odesa region, the Romanian authorities are thinking about evacuating their citizens who may suffer as a result of the fall of drones.

"Tudor Cernega appealed to the authorities to support the residents of the village of Plaura, who have been reporting for more than a month that Russian drones attacking the Ukrainian port of Izmail have been flying over their homes, and some of them are falling very close to the city," the statement said.

It is important to note that not all the villagers expressed a desire to leave their homes.

"During the meeting with the Minister of Defense, I also took into account the possibility of voluntary relocation. I still have to contact the locals, and those who wish to move voluntarily should be provided with the same conditions as Ukrainians, namely accommodation and food," Tudor Chernega said.
