Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba expressed confidence that the meeting between the presidents of Turkey and Russia will be the last chance to revive the grain deal. The minister expressed this opinion during his opening speech at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Toledo, Spain.
The diplomat emphasized that September will be an important month for both the "grain initiative" and the "peace formula".
Kuleba stated: "We know that there will be a meeting between President Erdogan and President Putin. And this will be almost the last opportunity to find out whether Russia will return to the Black Sea Grain Initiative."
The minister noted that Ukraine is actively developing an alternative sea route where ships leave Ukrainian ports and quickly enter Romanian territorial waters. Two ships have already traveled this route.
"So, please think about how you can help secure this grain corridor when the ships are in the territorial waters of Ukraine," Kuleba emphasized.
In this context, he also called for the provision of air defense systems to Ukraine.
