Plane crash in Zhytomyr region: three versions of the tragedy are being studied

The investigation into the plane crash in Zhytomyr region that killed famous pilot Andriy Pilshchikov, call sign "Juice," is at the stage of studying three possible versions, SBI Communications Advisor Tatyana Sapyan said during a telethon.

Sapyan noted that the SBI is committed to conduct a thorough investigation of the plane crash, including details and all possible causes of the tragedy. Specialists from the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Air Force Command will also be involved in the investigation.

"About possible versions. You mentioned that the preliminary qualification is a violation of flight rules or preparation for them. And there is indeed a punishment for this in the Criminal Code. But now the investigation will also consider versions such as: technical malfunction of the aircraft, pilot error, and the third version - violations during the organization of flights," the official said.

She noted that to confirm any of these versions, numerous examinations will be required, which will take time. This includes forensic examinations and analysis of data from black boxes.

The SBI advisor emphasized: "We expect that these examinations will give the investigation an understanding of how this happened. But we understand that not much time has passed between the 25th and today. And now, according to the preliminary established circumstances, the crash occurred as a result of a collision between two aircraft during a turnaround maneuver. This is important. We have received fresh information from investigators that adds to our information space."

As we reported earlier, a well-known pilot known as "Juice" died in a plane crash in Zhytomyr region. The tragedy occurred on August 25 in the evening, when two Ukrainian planes, including the plane of the pilot with the call sign "Juice", collided in the air.
