Five European countries (Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania) are planning to request an extension of the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain and other crops until the end of this year. This was stated by Polish Agriculture Minister Robert Telus, Reuters reports.
"We support the ban on imports to our countries until the end of the year. I want to say that even if it fails, some countries will introduce their own restrictions. Our declaration is clear," the minister said.
Countries are also considering expanding the list of banned goods. For example, Poland intends to add raspberries to this list.
The current ban expires on September 15, and Ukraine's neighbors in Europe allow grain transit through their territories, but avoid buying Ukrainian goods in order not to harm their own agricultural markets due to low prices for Ukrainian products.
