Training of Ukrainian pilots and technicians on F-16 fighter jets could take 6 to 8 months, the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Kajsa Ollongren said during an interview.
She emphasized that training on the F-16 is a long-term process, given Ukraine's need for aircraft for military operations. However, it is important to follow all stages of preparation correctly.
"You need pilots to know how to fly and fight these aircraft. You need technicians to maintain the fighters. You need to know how to use the F-16's weapons. We estimate it will take 6 to 8 months to train these teams," the minister emphasized.
Ollongren also noted that if everything goes well, the training process can be faster than in other cases.
The Minister of Defense also emphasized that the Netherlands is committed to providing Ukraine with aircraft as soon as possible.
