US Space Force Commander Chance Saltzman claims that Russia is making efforts to limit the operation of the Starlink satellite network in Ukraine, The Washington Post reports.

The United States plans to deploy its own system of government satellites for communications and other purposes, similar to Starlink. So far, the first 10 satellites have been launched, and 18 more are planned to be sent by the end of this year. Next year, 160 satellites are planned to be launched, and the ultimate goal is to deploy up to 1,000 satellites in low Earth orbit.

According to Saltzman's statements, the deployment of such a large-scale satellite array poses significant technical challenges. He also noted that there are attempts by Russia to discredit the Starlink network in Ukraine.

"We are actually seeing the consequences of this in Ukraine with the Starlink constellation. The Russians are trying to suppress it," he said.

The Washington Post adds that despite these Russian efforts, the attempts are unsuccessful.
