Ukraine offers mixed medical commissions for prisoner exchange - Yusov

Ukraine is proposing the creation of joint medical commissions for the exchange of prisoners with Russia, said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Military Media Center reports.

According to Yusov, this innovation will facilitate the release of Ukrainian prisoners and the return of prisoners of war from the enemy.

"Ukraine announces the creation of mixed medical commissions. This will help to release Ukrainian prisoners and help the enemy to return their prisoners. This is the third time in world history that such an initiative will be implemented," the DIU representative said.

According to the plan, the medical commissions will consist of three doctors: one from the country where the prisoners are held and two neutral specialists from other countries.

Andriy Yusov emphasized that previously Ukraine quickly and effectively returned seriously wounded enemy soldiers. As part of this new initiative, he emphasized that Ukraine, as a democratic state, adheres to international law and strives to treat all prisoners of war respectfully, regardless of their nationality.
