DIU confirms special operation: Russian Mi-8 helicopter landed in Ukraine

The Russian Mi-8 helicopter that disappeared a few weeks ago has ended up in Ukraine. Russian military publications began to report on this a few days ago.

According to their claims, the crew "went off course and landed the helicopter by mistake at the Poltava airfield. As soon as they realized where it was, they tried to take off, but were stopped by ground fire," and only the commander survived.

Later, the GUR confirmed the information about the landing of the Russian helicopter, saying that it was their special operation. And the helicopter landed not in Poltava, but in the Kharkiv region.

"There will be official information. Preliminary, there is such information. We need to wait a little bit, we are working with the crew in particular. Everything is fine, there will be news," said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR, during the telethon.

The Ukrainska Pravda publication, citing its sources in the GUR, reports that Ukrainian intelligence lured the Mi-8 pilot to Ukraine. Previously, his family was also taken here.

According to the UP, the plane landed in Ukraine when it was flying between two air bases and transporting parts for Russian fighters. Along with the pilot, there were two crew members on board who did not know where the helicopter was actually going.

It is also confirmed that the crew members except the pilot were killed. It is reported that the helicopter is already in Kyiv.
