According to the SBU, before the Russian invasion, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine purchased a defective batch of artillery mines worth about UAH 270 million.
The heads of three private companies signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense for the production and supply of artillery mines, which were supposed to be delivered by February 2022. However, only part of the mines were delivered on time, and it turned out that they were defective due to the low-quality powder used in their production.
Tests confirmed that the use of these mines could cause damage to the artillery itself. The defective batch was returned to the manufacturers, but they have not yet provided a replacement for the army's needs.
In this regard, the entrepreneurs who signed these dubious contracts face up to 8 years of imprisonment.
