The first ship to use the temporary transportation corridor opened by Ukraine after Russia's withdrawal from the grain deal has successfully crossed the Bosphorus, Reuters reports.

The Hong Kong-flagged container ship Joseph Schulte left the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Odesa, which was blocked by Russia, earlier this week. The ship had been in the port since February 23, 2022.

Local broadcasters reported that the ship will soon be docked at the port of Ambarli in the south of Istanbul.

Last week, Ukraine announced the creation of a "humanitarian corridor" in the Black Sea to free cargo ships that were locked in its ports due to Russia's decision to withdraw from the grain deal.
