Ukrainian pilots will soon begin training on F-16 fighter jets, but the transfer of the aircraft will require an additional decision. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a briefing, Dagsavisen reports.
In response to a question about the advisability of providing Ukraine with modern NATO fighters, Stoltenberg emphasized: "It is quite possible. We agree to start training pilots. But a separate decision is required before the delivery of modern fighters."
The NATO chief also noted that by training Ukrainian pilots, the allies are moving closer to a possible supply of this type of weapon to Ukraine.
