Surovikin has lost his powers and is under house arrest, - Politico

The former deputy commander of the Russian Joint Forces Group in Ukraine, Sergey Surovikin, who is associated with the leader of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was stripped of his powers and placed under house arrest. According to Politico, he was ordered to "stay in the shadows" until interest in him fades.

He is currently under a special regime of house arrest, which restricts his movements but allows him to receive visitors, including some subordinates.

According to Politico, Surovikin has not appeared in public since the Wagner PMC riot broke out. This happened after information emerged that he was aware of Prigozhin's planned rebellion.

Russian sources indicate that the final decision on Surovikin's future "will have to be made by one person, and the longer it drags on, the more this person's interest will cool," referring to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
