According to sources, The Wall Street Journal reports on ongoing US negotiations with Turkey, Ukraine and its European neighbors to expand alternative routes for grain exports.
According to the plan, Ukraine intends to increase exports through the Danube ports to 4 million tons of grain per month by October.
The bulk of the grain is planned to be shipped via the Danube and the Black Sea to the nearest Romanian ports, after which it will be redistributed to other destinations.
A source from the US administration said that "all possible options, including military measures, are being considered" to ensure the protection of ships going to and from Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
This route may reportedly be slower and more expensive, but it could become an alternative to the Black Sea shipping corridor if Russia does not return to the agreement.
Ukraine has previously suggested that NATO countries could provide grain supplies through military convoys.
