According to the information provided by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Nayev, there is currently no threat of an offensive by Russia in the northwest. However, if the Russian Federation decides to conduct active military operations, it will take at least a month and a half to prepare. Nayev expressed this position in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"Preparing for the worst-case scenario will allow us to remain alert, even if the enemy forces are smaller. There is no direct threat at the moment, but we do not rule out the possibility of its emergence in the future. It will take at least a month and a half for the enemy to form the necessary troops and launch an offensive," Nayev said.
The commander's words are confirmed by the measures currently being taken in Rivne region to strengthen the border. The area is being mined, new defensive positions are being created, and the protection of important strategic facilities, including Ukraine's energy system, is being strengthened.
Also, as part of the border reinforcement, more than 60 posts have been set up in Rivne region and about 15 new strongholds have been created. In addition, tens of thousands of mines have been placed on the border, including guided anti-personnel mines, which account for at least 20% of the total number of mines installed.
