Over the past seven days, localized fighting has broken out on the lower reaches of the Dnipro River. This situation has presented Russian generals with a difficult choice. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense via its Twitter account.

According to the report, the Ukrainian armed forces conducted operations in the form of raids and the establishment of small strongholds in new locations on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, which is currently under Russian control. These actions were in addition to the existing stronghold held by Ukraine near the destroyed Antonivskyi Bridge since June 2023. Some of these operations may have involved rotations of local Russian armed forces.

According to British intelligence, clashes over control of small islands in the Dnipro estuary are also ongoing.

"The Russian command is facing a difficult choice: to strengthen this area or to move troops eastward to the areas where Ukraine's main counteroffensive operations are taking place," the UK Ministry of Defense said in an official statement.

As a reminder, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) recently reported, citing Russian sources, that Ukrainian armed forces had successfully landed on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson region and managed to break through Russian defenses, advancing deep to a distance of up to 800 meters. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry later denied this information.
