Fighters of the "Wagner" PMK stationed in Belarus were directed towards the Suval corridor. It connects Poland with the Baltic states and separates Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, RMF FM reports.
The head of the government emphasized that Poland has been facing constant attacks outside its border for the past two years. This year alone, 16,000 attempts to illegally cross the border by migrants, who, according to him, are lured by dictators Vladimir Putin and Oleksandr Lukashenko to "push to Poland."
He noted that now the aggressor countries have sent a hundred fighters of the "Wagner" PMK to the Suval corridor.
"Now the situation is becoming even more dangerous. We have information that more than 100 mercenaries of Wagner's group have moved towards the Suvalsky Isthmus near Grodno in Belarus," Moravetskyi said.
The prime minister said that this is "a step towards a further hybrid attack on Polish territory." Moravetsky suggested that the "Wagnerians" will probably be disguised as Belarusian border guards, help immigrants enter Poland illegally and destabilize the situation in the country. According to the Prime Minister, the militants themselves may also try to enter Polish territory.
By the way, the Suval Isthmus is sometimes called a strategic point for NATO. This territory connects Poland with Lithuania and other Baltic countries and at the same time separates the Kaliningrad region of Russia from Belarus.
"Wagnerivtsi" in Belarus
It will be recalled that after the unsuccessful rebellion of the leader of the "Wagner" Communist Party Yevgeny Prigozhin, part of his fighters arrived in Belarus. They are located in a tent town near the Osypovichi military base.
Ukrainian border guards stress that while the "Wagner" PMC in Belarus does not pose a threat to Ukraine, provocations are not ruled out.
At the same time, Ukraine does not rule out that the "Wagnerians" can be used for possible provocations on the border with NATO.
