Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is "extremely concerned" about the potential consequences if Koran-burning demonstrations continue in his country.

 This is reported by Reuters.

The Koran-burning events in Sweden have offended a number of Muslim countries, including Turkey, whose support is needed to join NATO.

The head of the Swedish government noted that new requests for permission to hold such demonstrations were submitted to the police.

"If they are granted, we are facing days where there is a clear risk that something serious will happen. I am extremely concerned about what this could lead to," Kristersson said.

The Swedish embassy in Iraq was set on fire because of the burning of the Koran in Stockholm

This month, Swedish activists received permission from the police to hold an action with the burning of the holy Muslim book of the Koran near the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm.

As a result, in the early morning of July 20, hundreds of protesters stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad and set it on fire. The Iraqi government condemned such actions, but ordered the Scandinavian country's ambassador to leave Baghdad as a sign of protest against such an act of desecration of the Koran.
