The UN Security Council condemned Russia's withdrawal from the grain agreement — details from a diplomat

The participants of the UN Security Council meeting sharply condemned Russia's actions to withdraw from the grain agreement. In turn, Russia puts forward 7 conditions, after the fulfillment of which it is allegedly ready to make compromises regarding the grain agreement.

 But no one will agree to these conditions, and the chances of renewing the grain agreement with the participation of the Russian Federation are small.

  Oleksandr Matsuka, a Ukrainian diplomat and former head of the Secretariat of the UN Security Council, stated this on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.

 "The meeting was convened at the request of Ecuador and France. All members of the UN Security Council spoke and all condemned Russia's actions. That is, Russia and Russia's exit from the grain agreement has no support at all. The Africans also acted quite harshly," the diplomat said.

 He reminded that there is an agreement between Ukraine, Turkey and the UN regarding the export of Ukrainian grain, and Russia agreed to participate in the inspection.

 "The entire role of Russia in this agreement is precisely in the inspection. In addition, there is a memorandum of cooperation signed between the United Nations and Russia. This is a completely different document. And in this document, signed by Russia with the UN, it undertook to help the export of Ukrainian grain. That is, Russia promised not to Ukraine, but to the United Nations," Matsuka reminded.

He noted that Turkey is not participating in the UN meeting regarding the situation surrounding the grain agreement and this is a certain message.

 "Every member of the UN can participate in the meeting of the UN Security Council, if the issue interests them or they want to join the issue that is being resolved. Turkey decided they didn't need to be there. And this, by the way, is a certain message. I think they may know more about the position of the Russian Federation than others," Matsuka added.

 As previously reported, the Kremlin said that they no longer intend to participate in the Black Sea Grain Initiative (grain agreement), which expired on July 17. He said that the conditions put forward by Moscow have not been met.

 On July 18-20, Russia "reinforced" its position of withdrawing from the agreement with a missile attack on the infrastructure of the Odesa sea trade port.

 At the same time, the Russian Federation intends to return to the grain agreement, subject to the fulfillment of a number of its conditions.

 We will remind you that in 2022, the Black Sea Grain Initiative was signed by Ukraine with the UN and Turkey on the one hand, and by Russia with the UN and Turkey on the other.

 Another extension of the agreements was to take place on July 17. But for this, Russia put forward new demands for reducing sanctions, in particular:

  •  connection of "Rosselkhozbank" to the SWIFT settlement system;
  •  resumption of supplies to Russia of agricultural machinery, spare parts and service, which fell under Western sanctions;
  •  cancellation of restrictions on insurance and reinsurance of Russian grain ships and lifting of the ban on their access to ports;
  •  unblocking of foreign assets and accounts of Russian companies related to the production and transportation of food and fertilizers;
  •  restoration of the operation of the ammonia pipeline "Togliatti - Odesa".
