UNESCO condemned the Russian attacks on the historic center of Odesa

The international organization UNESCO condemned the Russian strikes on Odesa. In particular, in the city center, as a result of which museums suffered.

This was reported by the press service of UNESCO.

The organization called for an end to attacks on cultural values, which are protected by international law and regulatory documents.

"UNESCO expresses its support for the people of Odesa and expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims," the statement said.

A preliminary assessment found damage to several museums located on the World Heritage site. We are talking about the Odesa Archaeological Museum, the Odesa Maritime Museum and the Odesa Literary Museum.

 Shelling of Odesa region

In recent days, the Russian Federation has intensified its shelling of the south of Ukraine, particularly the Odesa region. This happened against the background of Moscow's withdrawal from the "grain agreement".

The Russian army has been attacking the Odesa region for several nights in a row. Port infrastructure and grain terminals are under enemy attack. The Russians attacked the Odesa region twice in the past day.
