Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not go to the summit of the BRICS countries, which will be held at the end of August in South Africa.
This was announced by the administration of the South African president.
"By mutual agreement, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will not be present at the summit, but the Russian Federation will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov," the message said.
BRICS summit
At the end of August, a summit of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will be held in South Africa.
Putin's visit to the summit was still in question as the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest for the war crime of illegally deporting Ukrainian children from occupied territories to Russia.
According to the law, South Africa should arrest Putin in the event of his arrival. At the same time, the country recently accused the court in The Hague of "double standards" and said that it would look for a way out and change the legislation.
Recently, it was reported that Putin would come to the BRICS summit in South Africa, but later that day, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa suggested that the dictator send his foreign minister to the summit instead. Then Moscow rejected such a request.
