The Ukrainian military will very soon be ready to use the cluster munitions handed over to them by the USA at the front.
This was stated by the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi in an interview with the BBC.
Yes, Syrskyi confirmed that cluster munitions from the USA have already arrived in Ukraine. He noted that the shells "will be ready for use within a few days.
At the same time, the publication did not specify when the conversation with Syrsky took place.
At the same time, journalists noted that they saw American M777 howitzers, which will fire cluster shells, at positions around Bakhmut.
Cluster ammunition for Ukraine
Recently, the United States handed over cluster munitions to Ukraine, American President Joe Biden said that such shells will help the Ukrainian military to continue its counteroffensive.
At the same time, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov dispelled fears about the transfer of cluster munitions and named five main principles in their use. In particular, Ukraine will use shells only to liberate the territories of Ukraine, that is, it will not hit Russia.
Let us add that Russia has been using cluster shells for a long time, killing the Ukrainian population.
It should be noted that the cluster munition releases bombs that can cover five times the area of conventional munitions. They consist of dozens of smaller bombs and fly apart when detonated. In view of this, they can pose a danger to civilians for many years after the end of hostilities.
