Today, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17. This tragedy caused by an aggressor country will never be forgotten.

 This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

 "Our thoughts and hearts are with the families and loved ones of each and every one of the 298 victims. This tragedy, caused by the aggressor, will never be forgotten. The occupying state, the terrorist state will fully answer for all the crimes committed in Ukraine," Zelenskyі emphasized. .

 The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, also spoke about the disaster.

 "Russia shot down MH17 9 years ago, killing all 298 people on board. It lied about the tragedy for years, trying to avoid responsibility, until a Dutch court established the truth. We mourn the victims of MH17 and repeat: responsibility for Russian crimes is inevitable," he wrote on Twitter.

 MH17 disaster

 It will be recalled that on July 17, 2014, the passenger liner flight MH17, which was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down in the sky over Donbas. As a result of the disaster, 298 people died.

 According to the investigation, the plane was shot down by a missile launched from the Buk air defense system belonging to the 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Russian Federation. The Russians shipped the air defense system to Ukraine, where separatists and militants of the so-called "DNR" used it in battles against the Armed Forces.

 In November 2022, the court of The Hague passed a verdict in the case of the disaster of flight MH17, according to which Girkin, Dubinsky and Kharchenko were sentenced to life imprisonment.
