The United States warned the Russian Federation against an attack on the Zaporizhzhуa nuclear power plant in Energodar, which was captured by the Russian occupation forces.
This position was voiced by the spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, answering the question of journalists whether an attack on the ZNPP would be equivalent to the use of nuclear weapons
According to the representative of the State Department, "if this happens, the international community will definitely hold Russia accountable."
"The Russian leadership should think carefully about whether it wants to risk and cause a nuclear catastrophe," Miller said.
The American official assured that the US continues to monitor the situation at the Energodar NPP, adding that the International Atomic Energy Agency should have full access to all parts of the plant.
Earlier, the British Foreign Minister James Cleverley warned Russia against provocations at the ZANP.
It will be recalled that last week the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned that the Russians may soon start preparations for provocations at the Zaporizhzhуa NPP - they placed explosive-like objects on the roofs of two power units. At the same time, Russian propagandists said that Ukraine was allegedly planning to "attack the ZNPP using high-precision weapons and kamikaze drones."
