At the end of June, Baykar obtained licenses for the production of Bayraktar Akıncı and Bayraktar TB2 drones in Ukraine.
The Turkish company Baykar has started building a factory for the production of Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine. Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries, announced this on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, within the framework of the project, "about which there have been talks in Ukraine for a couple of years, construction work has already begun."
"There were negotiations on it, then there were stoppages, scandals. Today, this plant began to be built in practice, not just on memorandums. It is starting to be built, we have moved to real steps," said the minister.
On June 23, Akit reported that Baykar has been granted license permits for the production of Bayraktar Akıncı and Bayraktar TB2 drones in Ukraine. According to him, the enterprise for their production should be operational in 2025, the volume of investments in it will amount to $95.5 million.
On June 28, 2022, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced on Facebook that the Turkish side intends to place production in Ukraine. The governments signed the framework agreement, which provides for the construction of a plant and the creation of a center where Ukrainian operators will be trained to operate Bayraktar drones of various categories, at the beginning of February.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, said in August that land had already been bought for the construction of the plant.
In October, the Baykar company announced that they plan to complete the construction of their plant in Ukraine in two years.
