Russian airlines continue to feel the consequences of Western sanctions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The ban on the supply of spare parts and repair of airliners affected even aviation paint.
Now carriers are waiting for the delivery of materials for several months, and identification marks are applied using stickers, TRAVEL RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to avianews.com.
US and EU sanctions against Russian aviation prohibit the maintenance and supply of spare parts for Western-made aircraft operated by Russian airlines. Despite the fact that air carriers have established schemes for the supply of some components through third countries, the deficit cannot be covered. This also applies to special aircraft paint.
"Airlines have to wait 3-4 months for the paint. In Russia, they are trying to import it, but this process is not going quickly," - reports a specialized Russian Telegram channel.
Photos of the Boeing 737-900ER aircraft of the airline "Russia", which is part of "Aeroflot", were published on the network. It can be seen on the airliner that they could not apply a full-fledged livery, stickers with the carrier's identification marks were stuck on board.
It is about two planes that "Aeroflot" recently received from a Russian leasing company. Previously, they were operated by the Indonesian low-cost carrier Lion Air.
For several months, the planes will fly in this form until Aeroflot has the necessary paint.
