Russia is trying to hastily equip the occupation bodies of internal affairs in the captured territories of Ukraine in order to provide police support on the day of the so-called elections on September 10.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar.
"The Kremlin is hastily accelerating the filling of vacant positions in the structural divisions of the occupation bodies of internal affairs in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions," she said.
Malyar noted that the reason for such haste is the need to provide police support for the so-called elections in the captured territories within the framework of the "Single Voting Day" in September.
At the same time, the deputy minister of defense emphasized that the holding of so-called elections by the invaders in the occupied territories is a violation of the norms of international law.
Malyar noted that the results of the "elections" will not mean anything except the composition of the crime of the organizers and executors.
"Elections" in the occupied territories
In February, the Federation Council of Russia announced plans to hold so-called "elections" in the occupied territories of Ukraine. In June, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation scheduled voting in the occupied territories for September 10, 2023.
British intelligence noted that the Russian Federation wants to show the captured territories as its "integral parts" by the fact that it intends to hold a vote on the same day as the elections in Russia.
We should also note that at the end of May, the Russian Federation made changes to the law, which, in particular, allows elections to be held in the occupied territories.
