Singapore is the best country in the world in terms of the functioning of state institutions. But Ukraine is still very far from the top 10 rating.
Rating of the best countries in the world
Dr. Tereza Paola Stavski of the University of Würzburg named after Dr. Julius Maximiliana (JMU) analyzed how the state performs its assigned functions in each of the 173 countries of the world. In particular, we are talking about how well the representatives of executive authorities, the judicial system, and law enforcement agencies perform their duties.
"We see the state in everything that surrounds us: on the streets, in the courts, in the police... The fact that a patient who needs an X-ray examination can easily get to a doctor, that there are schools all over the country, that day and night there is electricity - all this is the norm for the state. But many people in this world can only dream about it," says the scientist.
But there are states that in 2022 achieved impressive results in these indicators. This is what the top 10 best countries in the world look like:
Singapore
Australia
Denmark
Netherlands
Estonia
Luxembourg
Norway
Belgium
New Zealand
Germany
Finland, Seychelles, Great Britain, Sweden and Portugal are also performing well. It is interesting that the USA ranks 23rd in the ranking of the best countries, behind Malta.
Note that according to the report, the indicator of a highly functioning state does not depend on the form of government. Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (32nd place) are a vivid example of this. At the same time, experts are sure that "the maximum inclusion of citizens in the democratic process can contribute to the further improvement of the state."
Ukraine ranks 129th in the StIx rating, behind, for example, Djibouti. However, it is worth paying attention to the fact that in the report our state is marked as a country with "defective statehood".
However, we should not forget that since 2014, Ukraine has been at war with the Russian invaders. For example, the statehood of Belarus is in a "deeply flawed state".
Which country is the worst?
There are, of course, countries where state institutions are completely destroyed and do not work. We are talking about Yemen, South Sudan, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea. The worst situation is in Libya.
Chad, the Central African Republic, Haiti, Somalia, Syria and Venezuela also have significant problems.
