NATO officials reacted discreetly to the events in Russia, where the forces of the private company "Wagner" refused to obey the orders of the military leadership and established control over at least one of the Russian cities.
As the Ukrinform correspondent reports, NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu gave a brief answer to the Agency's request.
"We continue to monitor this situation," said the spokeswoman of the Alliance.
As reported, on June 23, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the "Wagner" PMC, announced a demarche against the Russian military leadership, in particular against the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, and established control over military facilities in the city of Rostov-on-Don. President Putin addressed the people and called these actions "military mutiny" and "treason". Prigozhin expressed his intention to reach Moscow to "put an end to this mess."
