Active hostilities at the front will continue in the near future. An assessment of the Russian Federation's capabilities will be conducted in mid-summer.

This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the Deputy Head of the State Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitsky.

"Let's not make predictions for the whole year. I will say this: in the next 2-3 months there will be active combat operations. Both offensive and defensive, because our strategic goal and goal is the liberation of all our territories," he said.

According to him, the Russians will still try to complete those tasks "to say whether they have completed their "special military operation" or not."

"Nevertheless, we will focus on mid-summer - whether the enemy will succeed in carrying out his plans for modernization, regrouping, formation of new units, units, how they will reform," said Skibitsky.

He reminded that the Russian command has already officially announced the reformation and restoration of the Leningrad and Moscow military districts. "After that, it will be possible to assess the capabilities of the Russian Federation and predict the possible nature of Russia's actions for the fall-winter campaign," added the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense's GUR.

 Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces

The armed forces of Ukraine launched a major counteroffensive at the beginning of June. According to official data, in two weeks the Armed Forces liberated 8 settlements in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. To stop the counteroffensive, on June 6, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said that the advance of Ukrainian troops at the front is not going fast, but the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces last fall also began in a similar way.

According to the survey by the Razumkov Center, 93% of Ukrainians believe in victory, and half (50%) are convinced that it will come before the end of 2023.
