Rheinmetall will deliver 20 more Marders to Ukraine this summer

The German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall plans to deliver 20 more Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine this summer.

 This is reported by Welt.

The company confirmed the corresponding schedule for the order already announced at the beginning of June in Dusseldorf on Friday. The German government will pay for the equipment that was in the warehouses of the Bundeswehr.

This will mean that Ukraine will receive only 60 Marder: 40 from Rheinmetall and 20 from Bundeswehr warehouses.

Rheinmetall offers another 60, and work on these is already underway at plants in Unterluss (Lower Saxony) and Kassel (Hessen). Of those 60, the company says up to 10 could be completed each month.

Apart from direct deliveries to Ukraine, Greece will also receive 40 Marder from Rheinmetall this summer. This is part of the so-called circular exchange, in which NATO countries transfer other Soviet-made military equipment to Ukraine.

On Wednesday, it became known that Germany handed Ukraine a new batch of military aid, which included, among other things, precision-guided munitions.
